Brownsville Lester V. Andrews
Lester V. Andrews, 80, of Brownsville, Pa., died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in UPMC, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Allison, Pa., son of the late Morean and Emma Adamir Andrews.
He was a member of the Hiller Fire Hall.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Krajeski Andrews; two sons, John R. Andrews of Brownsville, Pa., and Mark A. Andrews and his fianc?e, Kellie Valentine of Erie, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Brian and Jason.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Andrews; and a sister, Roxanne Moser.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. James Petrovsky officiating. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Arthur A. Battistone
Arthur Anthony Battistone, 84, of Washington, Pa., formerly of Bentleyville, Pa., died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in the Donnel House in Washington.
Mr. Battistone attended Bentleyville High School. In 1946, he built and established Battistone’s Garage, a business he operated for over 45 years, during which he sold Dodge and Plymouth automobiles form 1948-1953, and Packard automobiles from 1953-1956, before retiring in 1990.
Surviving are his wife, Lydia DiNardo, whom he married on September 11, 1948, in St. Luke R.C. Church in Bentleyville; his son, Art Battistone and his wife, Sharon of Washington; his daughter, Dr. Lorena Surber and her husband, Ken of Charleston, W.Va.; a sister, Pearl Gibson; six grandchildren; and a nephew, Gary Gibson.
Friends will be received in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main St., Bentleyville, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where prayers will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2002, at 1 p.m.
Carmichaels
Daisy E. Clark
Daisy E. Clark, 96, of Carmichaels, Pa., died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 7:45 p.m., at the home of her granddaughter, Sharon, in Pittsburgh.
She was born July 22, 1905, in Carmichaels.
She enjoyed embroidery and hooking rugs. She also loved animals, and was concerned with their welfare.
She was a member of the John Corbly Memorial Baptist Church of Garards Fort, Pa.
Surviving are her husband, Wilbur S. Clark; and two granddaughters, Sharon Goughnour of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Susan Goughnour of Herndon, Va.
Friends will be received in the PAUL M. LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., Carmichaels, today from 1 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Donald Gillenwater officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery of McClellandtown, Pa.

William H. Conroy
William H. (Bill) Conroy, 79, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in Mount Saint Macrina Manor.
He was born Nov. 6, 1922, in York Run, Pa., a son of the late Michael and Sarah Ellen Blanch Conroy.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, James Edward Conroy; and six sisters, Elizabeth Rich, Mary Ellen Conroy, Alice Brushel, Rose Rozzi, Kathryn Dollar and Grace Donley.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Elva E. Retkofsky Conroy, with whom he would have celebrated their 55th anniversary this Saturday, June 15, 2002; and two sisters, Virginia Lee Constable of Footedale, Pa., and Emma Jean Wydra and her husband, Adam Wydra of Mason, Ill.
Mr. Conroy was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant with the Medical Corps, was a Uniontown city employee for over 41 years, retiring as Superintendent of the Uniontown Sanitation Department, was a member of the Uniontown Central Christian Church, AMVETS General George C. Marshall Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa., American Legion Post 51 of Uniontown, Pa., Past Commander and life member of Disabled American Veterans and was the manager of the Uniontown Circle Club for the past 29 years.
Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Monday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Arthur Mace officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Uniontown Circle Club will hold services Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Military services will be accorded at the graveside by AMVETS General George C Marshall Post 103 of Hopwood.

Lillian Hill
Lillian Davis Hill of Palos Verdes, Calif., died May 3, 2002, in Redondo Beach, Calif.
Mrs. Hill was born on her family’s frontier farm in North Missouri, in 1918.
As a graduate of the Kansas City Missouri Teachers College, she taught in a one-room country school for a short period of time prior to World War II. During the war, she joined the engineering department of North American Aviation in Kansas City, and then moved to California, to continue work with that company in Inglewood. It was there that she met and married a young engineer, Alex Richard Hill and shortly after their wedding, she returned to her teaching career. As a kindergarten teacher, she served in the Lawndale School District for 30 years, where in 1974, she was honored to be named “Teacher of the Year”. She loved her work with kindergarten pupils and took great pride in teaching each of them to read while in her classroom.
She leaves behind one brother, William Davis; eight nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Green Ridge Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jeffrey Welsh officiating. Lottie I. Jackson
Lottie Irene Jackson, 95, formerly of Friendsville, Md., died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, Md.
She was born May 30, 1907, in Markleysburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Marshall and Ada (Keefer) Frazee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Milton Jackson; and three sisters, Pearl Reckart, Helen Fike and Edna Hemmitt.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of Grace Chapel, Markleysburg, and was retired as a nursing assistant for Spear Convalescent Home.
She is survived by one son, Marshall Jackson of Benton, Wis.; two sisters, Elizabeth Fike of Friendsville, Md., and Eva Jenkins of McClellandtown, Pa.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the NEWMAN FUNERAL HOMES, PA.., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, on Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted, in the funeral home, on Sunday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment will be in Asher Glade Cemetery.

Marilyn K. Kiefer
Marilyn K. “Tottie” Kiefer, 75, of West Pittsburgh Street Extension, Scottdale, Pa., passed away on Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2002, in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant.
Tottie is survived by her devoted family: her children, Marilyn K. “Lynn” Andras and husband, Michael of Bear Rocks, Karen L. Kiefer of Scottdale, Donald F. Kiefer and wife, Jo of Scottdale, Lawrence J. Kiefer and wife, Mary Ann of Fairchance, Bruce A. Kiefer and friend, Karen Charlesworth of Palmyra, and Kimberly K. Best and husband, Kevin of Severna Park, Md.; seven grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Patricia “Tish” Kiefer of Scottdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received in the Robert B. Ferguson, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., in Calvin United Presbyterian Church of Scottdale.

William C. Lewis
William Cornell (Bill) Lewis, 71, Uniontown, Pa., died at 2:15 p.m., on April 15, 2002, in Uniontown Hospital.
Bill was born at Oliphant Furnace, Pa., on March 11, 1931, to Edyth Bryner and Paul Lewis.
He was a resident of Uniontown, for the past 48 years. He was employed by United States Steel Corporation, in Homestead, for 36 years before retiring.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Carol (Boza) Lewis; a son, William Lewis Jr.; his mother, Edyth Bryner; father, Paul Lewis; and stepfather, Steve Korintus.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mabel (Braddee) Lewis; three sons, Steve of Ohio, Wayne of Florida, and Russell of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Zuzette (Lewis) Durst of Ohio; three stepchildren, Charles Churby, Brenda (Churby) Skinner and Raylene (Hart) Michalides; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, Uniontown, handled the arrangements for the interment at the Walnut Hill Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2002, at 6 p.m., at Church of the Nazarene, 8 Jeffrey Lane, Route 857, Uniontown, Pa., with the Rev. Howard Foust presiding.

Mark M. Marcinko
Mark M. Marcinko, 59, of Lakewood, Ohio, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at home.
He was born May 22, 1943, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of the late John Vincent and Anna (Galida) Marcinko.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Marcinko; and a brother, Daniel Marcinko.
Mark was a Sergeant with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department for the past 12 years. He served his country for six years with the United States Air Force, and was a Vietnam War veteran. One of his favorite hobbies was building and collecting model airplanes.
Surviving are his beloved companion, Carolyn S. Shearin; a brother, Gary Marcinko of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Constance Scott of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 139 West Fayette St., Uniontown, Pa., on Saturday, June 15, 2002, from 1 to 1:30 p.m., when a funeral service will be held. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa., where military honors will be accorded by the George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.

Ivy P. Martin
Ivy Pearl “Jackie” Martin, 78, of Farmington, Pa., passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Connellsville, Pa., daughter of the late Lafe and Sadie Giles Straitiff.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred “Bud” Martin; a daughter, Lorraine Seese; and a grandson, M.P. Fike.
Surviving are her son, Kenneth Martin of West Friendship, Md.; a daughter, Twila Fike of Markleysburg, Pa.; a son-in-law, Robert Seese of Farmington, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Wendi Landman, Heather Carreon, D.W. Seese, Orville Fike, Patrick Seese and Amanda and M.P. Martin; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Straitiff; and a sister, Patricia Mattis.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the Farmington Free Methodist Church and the Hillsmen Gospel Group. She was also a member of the Markleysburg-Henry Clay Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
