Leichliter-Smith
Marie Elizabeth Leichliter of Adah is engaged to wed Gary Matthew Smith of Hiller. A wedding for May 10, 2003, is being planned.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Avis and William Lloyd of Adah and Norman Leichliter of Fredericktown. Her grandparents are Marjorie Shelor McKnight of Adah and the late David McKnight and the late Thomas and Viola (Marie) Leichliter.
She graduated in 1994 from Jefferson-Morgan High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Waynesburg College in 1998. She also earned a master’s degree in communications from California University in 2001. She is enrolled in the Technology Communication Doctoral program at West Virginia University.
A member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and Alpha Psi Omega, she volunteers for the Morgantown Compeer Program and Habitat for Humanity. She is employed as an information specialist at West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities.
Her fianc’ is the son of Gary and Anna Smith of Hiller. He is the grandson of Anna Mattey of Hiller and Mary Tretinik of Brownsville.
He graduated in 1994 from Brownsville Area High School and in 1998 earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication radio and television from California University. In 2001, he earned a master’s degree in regional planning from California University. He is employed as a media specialist for the Student Association Incorporated Media Services at California University.
