Wanda Sutton Garcher
Wanda W. Sutton Garcher, 75, of West Toledo, Ohio, passed away suddenly Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in Flower Hospital. She was born October 3, 1926, in Fairchance, Fayette County, Pa., to Arthur Sutton and Ellen Hawkins Sutton.
Wanda was an Executive Secretary for the War Department at the Pentagon during 1944-1946.
She worked for the former Electric Autolite Company from 1946 to 1963 as a Supervisor of the Stenographic Pool and Secretary to the Comptroller and the Assistant Treasurer.
Wanda and Tom were married August 28, 1954.
Wanda was a fulltime Mother to their daughter, Elaine, for 18 years before joining the law firm of Coburn, Smith, Rohrbacher and Gibson as a Receptionist.
She was an active member of Fort Industry Chapter 391 Order of The Eastern Star, a 40-year member of Dendarah Court 10, Ladies Oriental Shrine, Charter Member of P’Takist, and a member of Dendarah Chorus and The Order of Amaranth 54.
Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter, Elaine Garcher Bridgman, and her parents.
She is survived by her mother, Ellen J. Sutton of Burke, Virginia; her loving husband, Thomas Garcher; a sister, Myrna J. Benckert and her husband, George, and a nephew, Arthur Benckert and his wife, Cathy, of Woodbridge, Virginia.
Friends may call at the BOYER VanWORMER SCOTT FUNERAL HOME, 5055 Secor Road (north of Laskey), Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Tuesday, June 18, after 6 p.m. where Memorial Services will be conducted by Fort Industry Chapter 391 at 7 p.m. followed by Dendarah Court services at 7:30 p.m.
Entombment will be private.
Tributes in Wanda’s memory may be director to the Toledo Humane Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
