Charles D. Harper, 66, of Greensburg, Pa., died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, Pa. He was born June 9, 1936, in Smock, Pa., son of Charles Harper and Esther Stewart Harper.

Early in his life Mr. Harper was employed as an Operations Manager for Lee Norse Company (which later became Ingersoll-Rand Mining) in Charleroi. While there he was instrumental in the opening of plants in Beckley, West Virginia, and Taylorsville, Illinois.

He later retired from Braeburn Alloy in Pittsburgh, Pa.

He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, New Stanton, Pa.

His paternal grandparents, William C. and Elizabeth Harper, maternal grandparents, John and Mary Etta Stewart, and parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Phillips Harper; three children: Gary W. Harper of Fort Worth, Texas, Kimberly and her husband, Thomas George, of Mercer, Pa., and Kelly L. and her husband, Brian Mull, of Greensburg, Pa.; six grandchildren: Donna George, Lisa George, Forrest Harper, Sarah Harper, Shelby Harper, and Drew Mull; his stepmother, Violet Harper and two half sisters, Carol Harper and Caren Porterfield and her husband, Sam, all of Monongahela, Pa.; a half brother, Larry Harper and his wife, Pauline, of Van Voorhis, Pa.; his uncle and aunt, Homer and Betty Casterwiler of Dunbar, Pa.

Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Wednesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. A. J. Domines officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
