William J. Shannon Jr.

William J. Shannon Jr., 79, of Atrium Apartments Westminster Village, Allentown, Pa., formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in the VNA Hospice Unit of St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. He was born in Cumberland, Maryland, the son of the late William J. Shannon Sr. and Elizabeth Huston Shannon Ramsay.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Allentown and was a veteran of World War II Army Air Corps.

He was employed as a sales engineer for Robert J. Fitzmyer Company in Philadelphia from 1968-1987. From 1955 to 1968 he was a sales engineer partner for the William H. Taylor Company in Allentown, from 1953 to 1955 he was sales engineer for Do All Company in Desplanes, Illinois, from 1946 to 1953 he was a tool maker for the former Western Electric Company in Allentown.

Mr. Shannon held officership in the Allentown Lions Club and Society of Manufacturing Engineers and was a former church council member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Allentown.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Jeanne S. Snyder Shannon; two sons William C. and Jonathan D. both of Bethlehem, Pa.; a brother Robert H. of Winchester, Va.; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1933 Hanover Ave., Allentown, Pa. followed by a Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be in Bethlehem Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to VNA Hospice in care of St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. or Animals in Distress.
