Emma Banner Coleman of 1561 Fairchance-Georges Road, Smithfield, celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday, June 13. Emma and her late husband, Doty, had nine children, Jean Braham, Mayola Beeson, William Coleman, Marjorie Currie, Kathleen Hockenberry, Bernell Eicher, Joseph Coleman, Blaine Coleman and Diana Niblack.

There are 42 living grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren and eight step-great-great-grandchildren. She enjoys reading, working crossword puzzles and crocheting. She has made numerous children’s afghans for the Linus Blanket Project. A celebration will be held in her honor on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Fairchance Fire Hall.
