Edith M. Chekosky, 80, of Greensboro, Pa., died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. She was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Carmichaels, Pa., daughter of the late Cecil and Ida May Herod.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Chekosky, whom she married on Jan. 19, 1950, and who died on Dec. 23, 1988; and three brothers, Cecil Herod Jr., Harold Herod and Jack E. Herod.

She worked as a waitress in the Carmichaels and Waynesburg area restaurants. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edith was a member of Mapletown United Methodist Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW in Greensboro.

Surviving are the following children: Gail Musulin and husband, Lou of Gladwin, Pa., Michelle Kurilko and husband, Bob of Greensboro, Pa., Kevin Chekosky and wife, Janice of Westland, Mich., and Kimberly LaPana of Greensboro, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and the following brothers and sister, Ralph Herod of Farmington, Pa., Dorothy Metcalf of Greensboro, Pa., and Leonard Herod of Greensboro, Pa.

Friends will be received in the PAUL M. LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., Carmichaels, today from 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m., the hour of service, in Mapletown Methodist Church, with the Rev. William Parker officiating. Interment will be in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro, Pa.
