Edward R. Mitchell, 86, of Somerset, Pa., died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at his home. He was born November 12, 1915 in California, Pa., a son of the late Robert and Bertha Catherine Keefer Mitchell.

He was a graduate of California High School and prior to his retirement he worked for the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company. He was a veteran of World War II having served as a Sergeant in the 3rd Armored Division of the U.S. Army in the European Theatre.

He is survived by a daughter Judy Ann Shaver of Grand Junction, Colorado; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a sister Muriel C. Smith of California, Pa.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Ann Watkins Mitchell in 1988, a daughter Gail Peightel and a brother James D. Mitchell.

Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m., in the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry R. Hellein officiating.

A Committal Service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
