State police said they located and identified a young man and woman who were considered suspicious and discovered they were selling books.

Richard and Jane Saluga of Madison Avenue told city police that a rented Gateway computer and 17-inch monitor were stolen from their home Wednesday night.
City police said there were no signs of forced entry, but the victims told officers that a window, which had been nailed shut, was open when they returned home.

State police said Gina Lee Marinelli, 27, of Lemont Furnace reported that money was stolen from her purse that was in an unlocked locker in an employee break room at Cherry Tree Nursing Center between 2:45 and 6 p.m. Tuesday.

State police said $1,000 in damages were done to stained-glass windowpanes at Antioch Baptist Church in Edenborn between Feb. 1 and June 16.

Police logged 1,984 miles on patrol vehicles.
