Helen Katruska Marchines

Helen Katruska Marchines, 78, of Daisytown, Pa., and formerly of Mexico in Vestaburg, Pa., died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at 4:32 a.m. in Washington Hospital Emergency Room, Washington, Pa. She was born December 10, 1923, in Fredericktown, Pa., daughter of Stephen Katruska and Mary Kolar Katruska.

Helen was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Brownsville, Pa.

She graduated in 1943 from the former East Bethlehem High School.

During World War II she worked as a Welder for the Dravo Corporation in Dravosburg, Pa.

She also worked at the former Fredericktown Bargain House for a number of years.

On August 9, 1947, she married Mike Marchines, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, George M. Marchines and his wife, Margaret, of Washington, Pa.; two grandchildren: Nicole Marchines and Michael Marchines; three sisters: Ann Katruska and Lenore Katruska both of Fredericktown, Pa., and Clara Carafa of Masontown, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

Four brothers, Stephen Katruska, John Katruska, Paul Katruska, Joe Katruska, four sisters, Geraldine Kersanty, Mary Latsnic, Valeria Miller, Sara Jenkins, and parents preceded her in death.

Friends will be received in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Route 40, Beallsville, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, June 25, when a Prayer Service will be held (time will be announced).

Divine Liturgy follows in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Brownsville, with Rev. Fr. Jerome Botsko as Celebrant.

Interment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa.
