Stephen D. Yoney Sr., 91, a resident of and Funeral Director in Monessen, Pa., for the past 64 years, Westmoreland County Coroner from 1958 until his retirement in 1979, who was instrumental in the installation of medial barriers on routes 70, 30, 22 and 66, adopted the first Westmoreland County morgue in 1960, and was born in Smithdale, Pa., died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Carroll Township, Washington County, Pa. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gail Podolinski Yoney; sons: Stephen D. Yoney Jr. and wife, Alvera, of Charleroi, Pa., and John P. Yoney of Miramar, Florida; grandchildren: Stephen D. Yoney III and wife, Ingrid, of Cecil, Pa., Dennis M. Yoney and wife, Jodi, of Weddington, North Carolina, Gail A. Yoney of Marina Del Rey, California, Sherry L. Yoney Watkins and husband, Gordon Watkins, of Charleroi, Amy M. Yoney of New York City, New York, and David D. Yoney of Monessen; great grandchildren: Erica Yoney, Gordon Watkins III, Alyse Yoney, Ashley Watkins, Gabrielle Yoney; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was the last remaining member of his immediate family.

Friends will be received at the Stephen D. Yoney Jr. Funeral Home, 100 Schoonmaker Avenue, Monessen, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, June 24, until 9:30 a.m.
