Joseph Helms, a fifth semester student in Laurel Business Institute’s Information Technology program, was named June student of the month by the faculty and administration of the school. Helms, who is slated to graduate in September, maintains a 4.0 grade point average. In addition to his performance in the classroom, Helms has earned the A+ Service Technician, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, and certified Novell administrator certifications.
Additionally, Helms and another Laurel Business Institute student, David Bowlin, recently started Net-Tex Inc., a computer consulting firm based in Uniontown. They handle a wide range of computer-related services, including repair, Web design, home and business networking, and presentations. Helms makes his home in Connellsville.
