Masontown downs Fayette City Joel Yednock had three hits and three RBIs, while Jim Kubina scattered five hits over 6 2/3 innings as Masontown topped host Fayette City, 6-3, Tuesday in Fayette County League action.

Kubina (2-2) allowed only one earned run, but walked eight batters. Todd Dunham recorded the final out via strikeout.

Kubina helped himself with three hits, including a double, while Scott VanSickle counted a triple along with a single. Craig Zvolenski and Klink Johnson chipped in two hits each, with Brad Baker also doubling for the winners.

Justin Murphy went the distance in suffering the loss. He allowed 13 hits and five earned runs.

Fayette City (6-7) travels to Charleroi Thursday at 6 p.m.

Carmichaels 13, Perryopolis 0 – Ryan Shetterly improved to 4-0, allowing just two Mike Matras’ singles over six innings as the Copperheads avenged a loss earlier this season to Perryopolis.

Shetterly struck out three and walked just one batter, before being relieved by Andy Manion.

Scott Swinchock led a 13-hit Carmichaels’ attack with a triple, double and three RBIs.

J.W. Kayla, Charlie Humes and Jeff Thompson added two hits each, with Eric Holt, Lee Fritz chipping in doubles.

Carmichaels manager Dickie Krause got into the action as well, handling the catching duties the final two innings.

Phil Dinetti started and suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs on four hits over two innings. He walked five and didn’t strike out a batter.

The Western Division leading-Copperheads improve to 12-2 and return to action Thursday for the first of two games against Bud Murphy’s. Bud’s sits atop the Eastern Division and will travel to Carmichaels Friday.
