George Kushak, 84, of Uppermiddletown, Pa., passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at his home. He was born March 6, 1918, at Filbert, Pa., son of the late John and Mary Drocok Kushak.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Zooner Kushak; and four brothers, Nick, John, James and Pete Kushak.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, a member of the UMWA District 2, and an avid gardener.

Surviving are three daughters and a son: Audrey Elish of Grindstone, Georgia Kushak of Farmington, James R. Kushak and his wife, Brenda of Uniontown, and Cecelia Price and her husband, Earl Ronald of Uppermiddletown; eight grandchildren, Tina, James and Daniel Elish, George and John Redshaw, Amber Lynn Kushak and Nonny and Ronald Price; eight great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; these sisters and brothers, Cecelia Koschock of Alta Villa, Charles Kushak and his wife, Betty of Uniontown, Steve Kushak and his wife, Marge of Uppermiddletown, Mary Smith and her husband, Francis of Jacksonville, Fla., Frank Kushak of Uniontown, and Anna Dancho and her husband, Edward of Smock; and three sisters-in-law, Matilda Kushak, Clara Kushak and Victoria Kushak.

Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Roland O’Brien officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Dunbar R.D. 1.
