Gloria J. Shotts
Gloria Jean Shotts, 58, of Masontown, Pa., died suddenly on Wednesday, June 26, 2002, following an accident when a vehicle struck her and daughter, Kimberly S. Shotts as they were walking in their neighborhood. Her daughter, who was her mother’s “Best Friend” and always accompanied her mother on their daily walks, was severely injured. Gloria was bon Dec. 30, 1943, in Uniontown, Pa., a daughter of August and Gladys (Tate) Mish, who preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of German Township High School, Class of 1961, and was employed with Girard’s Cleaners of Masontown.
Her family, and time spent with them, was the most precious thing in her life. She was a devoted wife and proud mother, a wonderful cook, and especially enjoyed arts and crafts, and working in her flower garden. Her radiant nature and gentle smile will always be remembered, and her never-ending love, a legacy left to be cherished.
Surviving are her loving husband of 37 years, Carl W. Shotts Jr.; their children, Kimberly S. Shotts, at home, and friend, Mark Davis of Smithfield, Pa., whom she loved as a son; Carl W. Shotts III, at home and friend, Angie Posvech of Masontown, Pa., whom she loved as a daughter, and Lisa A. (Shotts) Madison and husband, James Madison, whom she loved as a son of Hopwood, Pa.; two sisters, Joanne Sahady of Dry Tavern, Pa., and Rose Radvansky of North Olmstead, Ohio; dear mother-in-law, Ann “Nanny” Shotts of Masontown, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Gamon and husband, Gerome of Warren, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Shotts and wife, Tammy of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main St., Masontown, Pa., on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday, July 2, 2002, until 9:30 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m., in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. James F. Bump as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa.
