Russell M. Stoneking Sr.

Russell Melvin Stoneking Sr., 74, of 414 North Main Street, Woodstock, Virginia, and formerly of Winchester, Virginia, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his home. Mr. Stoneking was born June 13, 1928, in Fayette County, Pa., son of Robert Brady Stoneking and Mary Lulu Carpenter Stoneking.

He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and retired from the United States Air Force.

He worked for the United States Postal Service for 22 years in Winchester, Virginia, and sold insurance for Modern Woodman of America.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Edinburg V.F.W. Post 2447, Woodstock American Legion Post 199, and Modern Woodman of America.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lamma Stoneking; two sons: Russell Stoneking Jr. of Keezletown, Virginia, and Clinton B. Stoneking of Roanoke, Virginia; one daughter, Cynthia Stoneking Shore of Carlisle, Massachusetts; one brother, Jack Stoneking of Fairchance, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.

The Family will receive Friends at the DELLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 157 North Main Street, Woodstock, Virginia, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral will be held Monday, July 1, at 11 a.m. St. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Jerome. The Rev. Harold E. Burnette will officiate.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
