Thomas Eugene Light
Thomas Eugene Light, 79, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away Thursday, June 27,2002, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born May 8, 1923, in Boomer, West Virginia, son of the late William W. Light and Ethel Johnson Light.
Mr. Light served overseas with the United States Coast Guard during World War II and was known as one of the better boxers of the South Pacific.
He enjoyed sports and played Professional Baseball in his younger years around Charleston, West Virginia.
“Tom” was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Mr. Light started his working career as a Coal Miner, hand-loading coal. Over the years he worked his way up through management levels of various coal companies including Executive Vice President of Gulf and Western’s Coal Division, President of Chapel Coal Company, Vice President of Penn Pocahontas, and General Manager of Island Creek Coal Company’s Byrd Complex.
His wife, Thelma Marie Kachermeyer Light, died June 3, 1999. Also deceased are his parents.
Surviving are four children: Thomas E. Light Jr. and his wife, Shirley, of Waynesburg, Pa., David A. Light and his wife, Karen, of Kingwood, West Virginia, Linda G. Kaiser of Fairchance, Pa., and Jane Ann and her husband, John Kincaid, of Scott Depot, West Virginia; BELOVED PAPA to grandchildren: Holly Grace Light DiCocco, Edward Kaiser, Justin Kaiser, Robert Light, Thomas Light, Maggie Wall, John Kincaid, Joe Kincaid and Kim Kincaid; a great granddaughter, Madison Wall; a great grandson, Andrew Wall; one sister, Louise Williams of Beckley, West Virginia; and two brothers: Allen Light and his wife, Alyce, of Vernal, Utah, and Lewis Light of Pensacola, Florida.
The Family will receive Friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today, June 30, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held in the Funeral Home at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Edward A. Pollock officiating.
Interment will be held Monday, July 1, at 1 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Harrisonburg, Virginia.
