Stephen Matsey

Stephen “Steve” Matsey, 78, of Mount Pleasant Road, Swedetown, Scottdale, Pa., former Scottdale Borough Councilman and a Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Army in Battery B 143rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion which engaged in battles in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe, died early Tuesday morning, April 30, 2002, in H. C. Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, Pa. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Theresa Roise Mancuso Matsey, whom he married August 21, 1948; children and granddaughters: Stephanie M. and her husband, Patrick J. Shannon, of Murrysville, Pa., and their daughter, Katherine E. “Katie”, and Stephen M. “Steve” Matsey and his daughter, Ashlea D., of Scottdale with whom he resided; a brother and best friend, Victor M. Matsey and wife, Theresa P. Gazda Matsey, of Mount Pleasant, Pa.; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and his black lab, Nino.

The family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home Inc. 417 West Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Pa., on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, May 4, until 10:30 a.m.
