Kathryn Kern Swan

Kathryn B. Kern Swan, 90, of Connellsville, Pa., widow of the late William H. Swan Sr. who died in 1996, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2002. She was born May 15, 1911, in Youngwood, Pa., daughter of George S. Kern and Minnie P. Morris Kern.

She graduated from Connellsville High School in 1929 and was associated with her late husband in the operation of Swan’s Appliances of Connellsville.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star No. 247 of Connellsville and was a Charter Member of the East Connellsville United Methodist Church as well as The United Methodist Women.

She was viewed as a grandmother to all who loved her.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie Lee Tressler and her husband, James A., of Westerville, Ohio, four brothers, Clyde Kern, Roy Kern, George W. Kern, and infant brother Wilbert Kern, an infant sister, Ruth Kern, and her parents.

She leaves a son, William H. Swan Jr. and wife, Andrea, of Connellsville; two daughters: Judy Nardone and husband, Evan, of Connellsville and Linda Brubaker and husband, James, of Chazy, New York; grandchildren: Jeanine Tressler Howell, Janet Tressler Davis, Kimberly L. Work, Kathryn L. Work Enos, William H. Swan III, Kelly Swan Fuchs, Amy Swan, Timothy Swan, Brian Brubaker, and Mathew Brubaker; great-grandchildren: Jessica Howell, Jennifer Howell, Juliann Howell, Jordan Davis, Jason David, Jacob Swan, Tyler Swan, Logan Swan, Samuel Fuchs, Noah Fuchs, Alysandra Swan and Nicholas Fuchs; four sisters: Floretta Bradley and Laurena Stewart, both of South Connellsville, and Dorothy Jean Love and Nelda Graham and her husband, Art, all of Connellsville; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Friends will be received at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Visitation continue Saturday, May 4, in East Connellsville United Methodist Church, 109 East End Road, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Elmer Reamer officiating.

Entombment will follow at Green Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum, Pennsville, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the East Connellsville United Methodist Church, 109 East End Rd., Connellsville, PA 15425. www.brooksfuneralhomes.com
