Alfred W. “Gillie” Gilmore
Alfred W. “Gillie” Gilmore, 75, of Wickhaven, Pa., died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Feb. 1, 1927, at Whitsett, Pa., son of the late Alfred B. and Ada Easter Gilmore.
Alfred was a retired cement finisher, and a member of the Cement Mason Local 526 of Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
Surviving are the following children, Robert W. (Bob) Gilmore and wife, Marilyn of Wickhaven, Pa., Mrs. Jack (Jane) Anderson of Donora, Pa., Mrs. Terry (Diane) Oberlietner, Thomas George Gilmore and Mrs. Robert (Happy) (Christy) Smith, all of Wickhaven, Pa., Mrs. Harry (Chip) (Robin) Broadwater of Grindstone, Pa., and Jerome K. Lyons III of Wickhaven, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas H. (Bo) Gilmore and wife, Sophie of Wickhaven, Pa.; and two puppies, Luckey and Barnaby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet G. Reese and Gloria G. (Dolly) Gilmore.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence St., Perryopolis, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Pastor William E. Lawson officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis, Pa. Graveside military rites will be accorded by VFW Goldstar Post No. 7023 and American Legion Post No. 752 of Perryopolis, Pa.
