Youth day set City Chapel of Uniontown will observe its annual Youth Day on Sunday. The Rev. Marva Kirby of City Chapel will deliver the message at the 11 a.m. worship service. The 4 p.m. service will feature Minister Terry Vassar of Harvest Time Ministries of Brownsville as guest preacher. Dinner will be served following morning worship. Devon Austin is chairwoman and the Rev. Leonard Kirby is host pastor.

Speaker announced

The Rev. Dolly Smith of Fellowship Mission in Grafton, W.Va., will be morning speaker at Community Baptist Church in Allison on Sunday. Dinner will be served after morning worship. The Rev. Clara Yarborough is pastor.

Institute to convene

The Teacher’s Institute will convene on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Youghiogheny Western Baptist Association Headquarters and Christian Center, 624 Duck Hollow Road and Route 21, Uniontown. The overall theme will be, “Superior Leadership in Challenging Situations.’ Guest evangelist will be the Rev. Ludwell Wiley of Mount Rose Baptist Church in Uniontown during the morning session. The Rev. Dr. Sammie Bassord of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsburgh will be the afternoon guest lecturer. The Rev. Dewvaul W. Tracy Jr. is dean of the YWBA Congress of Christian Education.

Graduate honored

St. Paul’s African Methodist Episcopal Church in Uniontown congratulates Sister Josie Thompson on her graduation from Greater Works Outreach in Monroeville on Saturday at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Thompson will bring the Word at St. Paul’s at 6 p.m.

Program slated

Union Baptist Church of New Salem will have its annual Usher Board program. The Sing Spring Concert will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. A light repast will be served after the program. The Rev. Mary Baker is pastor.

PennDOT sets schedule

PennDOT’s Fayette County maintenance manager, Merle G. Bolen, has announced the following tentative work plan for this week:

All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas.

– The bridge team will perform bridge superstructure repairs on Route 982, near the Bullskin Township Fairgrounds.

– The sign team will upgrade and replace old, missing or damaged signs and posts on Route 4010, from Republic to Leisenring Road.

– Team Mill Run will perform base repairs on County Line Road, between routes 31 and 381.

– Team Limestone Hill will do loading work on Waltersburg Road.

– Team main shed will repair and replace pipe on Bitner and Nellie roads.

– Team Cloverleaf will replace pipe on Central School and Quaker Church roads.

– Team Searights will perform base repairs and replace pipe on Route 166, Ball Hill Road.

Team Big Six will patch on Woodbridge and Sandy Bottom roads.

– Team Summit will flush pipes and inlets on Route 40, Summit Mountain.
