Gary W. “Gordy” Layhue, 58, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Saturday, May 4, 2002, in his home. He was born September 30, 1943, in Uniontown, Pa., son of Mabel Hall Layhue and the late Harold Layhue.

He was employed at 3 C Mining as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

Surviving are his mother, Mabel Hall Layhue of Lemont Furnace, Pa.; his loving wife, Judy McCormick Layhue; his former wife, Loretta Rihaly Layhue of Florida; children: Tammy Smitley and husband John of Uniontown, Pa., Gary Layhue and David Layhue both of Springfield, Virginia; a step daughter, Patricia Bowler and husband Joseph of Hopwood, Pa.; two grandchildren: Louie and Belina Jean; two brothers: Kenneth Layhue and wife Alana and Lawrence Wayne Layhue all of Lemont Furnace, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, May 6, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Robert Long officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
