James L. Tarpley, 71, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2002, in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown. He was born January 1, 1931, in Fairchance, Pa., son of Charles Tarpley and Esther Davis Tarpley.

He was a Technician at Uniontown Hospital and a member of City Chapel Church.

His parents, stepmother, Grace Tarpley, and three sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Anderson Tarpley; one son, Charles “Chase” Tarpley, and a grandson, Shawn, both of Uniontown; two brothers: William of Hampton, Virginia, and Charles of Detroit, Michigan; three sisters: Janet, Chinky and Thelma all of Indianapolis, Indiana; one uncle, Simeon Tarpley of Clairton, Pa.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 6 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held Monday, May 6, at 11 a.m. from City Chapel Church, Main Street, Uniontown, with the Rev. Leonard Kirby officiating assisted by the Rev. Owen Anderson.

Interment will be in Dickerson Run Cemetery, Vanderbilt, Pa.
