Incident probed

State police said a 22-year-old Uniontown man was driving with an open container of beer along Gallatin Avenue at 12:05 a.m. Friday.

Assault reported

State police said an 18-year-old Mount Pleasant man attacked a known boy at 106 Green Meadow Lane until the boy became unconscious at 12:15 a.m. Saturday. The boy was treated at Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant.

Donegal Twp.

Burglar arrested

State police at Greensburg said Steven B. Radford, 19, of Acme was arrested for allegedly breaking into a lingerie store along Route 31 owned by Nora D. Kalp, 67, of Jones Mills at 2:15 p.m. Friday. Police said the man also admitted to a previous burglary at the same location on Sept. 22, 2001.

Vehicles collide

State police at Greensburg said an unknown vehicle struck an opened driver’s door on a vehicle owned by Cynthia Lynn Bingham, 36, of Youngwood while she was parked along Stone Church Road at 11:25 p.m. April 17. Police reported no injuries to Bingham or her two passengers.

Hit-and-run probed

Frederick Fronzacelio, 32, of Fairchance told state police that a white car struck the side of his vehicle while on Route 119 and fled the scene at 12:43 a.m. Saturday.

Two-vehicle accident

Charles Shroyer of Smithfield received minor injuries and Amy Tanner of Smithfield received moderate injury when their vehicles collided along Brownfield Lane at 1 a.m. Sunday, according to police. Police said passenger Mark Tanner Jr. received minor injury while a two-month-old in the vehicle was not injured.

Charges pending

Charges are pending against a 40-year-old Grays Landing man after he crashed his vehicle into a culvert at the intersection of Fifth and Cross streets at 9:28 p.m. Saturday, according to state police. Police said the man, who was not injured, failed a field sobriety test, but charges are pending blood-alcohol-level results.

South Union Twp.

Man jailed

Michael Allen Rankin, 29, of Smithfield was placed in jail following a 10-minute police chase from Gallatin Avenue at Askren Street to Old Walnut Hill Road, South Union Township, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to state police.

State police said during the pursuit, Rankin nearly struck several vehicles head-on, including a Uniontown City police cruiser and threatened several pedestrians as he traveled on sidewalks.

Rankin was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, seven counts of recklessly endangering another person and fleeing or eluding a police officer.

He was arraigned before District Justice Brenda Cavalcante and placed in Fayette County Prison on $25,000 straight-cash bond.

Woman assaulted

Charges are pending against a 26-year-old Melcroft man who allegedly assaulted and threatened a 28-year-old Melcroft woman at a residence along Ash Street at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to police.

Police said the man faces charges of assault and terroristic threats.

Criminal mischief

State police said someone drove a back hoe belonging to Mucci Construction, Perryopolis, across the Laurel Highlands Junior High school property and tried to dig up the pavement there between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday. Police said a power saw was also removed from the cab of the backhoe.

Criminal mischief

Someone broke three lampposts and two windows at Tub Run Campground at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, according to state police.

Man cited

City police cited James Harriston, 38, of 154 N. Gallatin Ave. for harassment after he allegedly slapped a woman in the face at Marshal Park at 4:57 p.m. Saturday.

Assault

Police filed charges of simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief against Brian Scott Showman, 26, of 904 E. Crawford Ave. after he allegedly entered a South Arch Street residence without permission and punched a woman in the head and body on April 24.

Police did not identify the alleged victim who was treated at Highlands Hospital for her injuries.

Showman was arraigned before District Justice Deborah Kula and lodged in Fayette County Prison after failing to post the $10,000 bond imposed during the hearing.

Woman assaulted

Yvonne Wilson of Uniontown was treated at Uniontown Hospital for lacerations to the face and head after she was assaulted by a barmaid and another woman at a bar along Gallatin Avenue at 2 a.m. Sunday, according to city police. Police said Wilson could not identify the women.

Drug investigation

State police reported that an investigation is ongoing into an incident in which an 18-year-old Uniontown man was asked to vacate a room at a local motel and allegedly removed 11 bags of suspected crack cocaine, money and a pager in the presence of officers on April 29.

Charges are pending against a Uniontown man for attacking a woman known to him at a residence on Coolspring Street at 10:51 p.m. Sunday, police said.

John Peters of Union Street told city police that someone stole the registration plates from his vehicle while it was parked at his residence at 6:58 a.m. Sunday.

Tractor stolen

Thomas Crawford of Connellsville Street told city police Sunday that someone stole a lawn tractor valued at $250 from his backyard sometime between Wednesday and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Vehicle damaged

Jackie Horton of Monroe Street told city police that someone broke the lens of the turning signal on her vehicle between 7 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Theft

James Edward Karas of Smithfield told state police that between 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday his vehicle was entered while parked in a lot adjacent to Atlas Road and two briefcases and $75 in cash was taken.

Damages to the vehicle are estimated at $100.

Windows broken

Sam Simms, 34, of Cleveland, Ohio, told state police that between noon and 5 p.m. Thursday four windows were broken on his mobile home located on Flynn Avenue in Ronco.

Criminal mischief

Mary Irene Goodman, 83, of Leisenring told police that three known juveniles threw rocks at her garage, breaking 14 windows and cracking the windshield of her 1978 Ford Grenada between 7 and 8 p.m. April 30.

Accident

No injuries were reported when Brendon Parker, 22, of Greensburg lost control on County Line Road and struck the guardrail at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Disorderly conduct

Shelly Preister, 35, of Uniontown told state police that a woman known to her spit in her face in the Shop ‘N Save parking lot at 12:10 p.m. Monday.

Monthly report

Cumberland Township Police Chief William F. Lewis Sr., issued the following report for the month of April.

Officers responded to 131 calls with a breakdown being: eight burglary alarm calls, six assist other department calls, one animal control, three burglary investigation, four criminal mischief, 13 disturbance calls, one domestic violence, two harassment, five motor vehicle accidents, 26 other calls, four information calls, 43 requests to speak to an officer, two stolen vehicles, one suspicious person, five theft reports, and seven traffic violations.

During this time officers also investigated two driving under the influence charges, three driving without a license charges and 11 other traffic violations.

Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Steven Leo Jaworski, 38, of 1408 1/2 Race St. after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition in the 1100 block of South Arch Street on April 29.

Police filed charges of violation of a city ordinance against Alice Ansell, 33, of 144 E. Orchard Alley after her dog was allegedly found barking and making excessive noise over a period of several hours on April 29.

Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Harry Earl Black Jr., 40, of 510 W. Crawford Ave. after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition along the West Crawford Avenue bridge on April 28.

Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Robin Lynn Black, 35, of 603 W. Crawford Ave. after she was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition and creating a disturbance at a West Crawford Avenue residence on May 1.

Police filed charges of simple assault and criminal trespass against Douglas Allen Cypher, 35, of 1704 Ridge Blvd. after he allegedly struck a Connellsville woman several times and causing face and body injuries during an incident along East Fayette Street on April 26.

Police did not identify the alleged victim.

Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Wayne David Johnson, 55, of 615 W. Crawford Ave. after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition along West Crawford Avenue on April 27.
