Police probe Uniontown accident that injured child

1 min read

A car hit a child Monday around 9 p.m. along Connellsville Street at the intersection of John Street by Lafayette School, but Uniontown city police had no report at the scene on the condition or identity of the child. Emily Pierce-Walls of Hopwood said she was stopped at the traffic signal, driving along Connellsville Street toward downtown Uniontown, when she saw three children standing on the side of the road. She said the light turned green, she saw the other car come through and then the child was hit. Pierce-Walls’ pick-up truck remained parked at the traffic signal and the car was stopped a short distance away as police investigated the accident. Neighbors said they heard nothing of the accident but joined a small group of onlookers at the scene. Police and Uniontown firefighters blocked the intersection and rerouted traffic.
