Boy critical after accident
An 11-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle on Connellsville Street in Uniontown was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon in a Pittsburgh Hospital. The child, Kadeen Chisler of 207 Coolspring St., Uniontown, was initially taken to Uniontown Hospital following the 8:53 p.m. accident on Monday, and later flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital, where a spokeswoman said Tuesday afternoon that he was in critical condition.
The accident occurred at the intersection with John Street near LaFayette School. Police listed the driver of the vehicle that struck the child as Abbra Glagola, 18, of 177 Volek Rd., Smithfield.
Emily Pierce-Walls of Hopwood said she was driving on Connellsville Street toward downtown Uniontown and was stopped at the traffic signal when she saw three children standing on the side of the road. Pierce-Walls said she saw the light turn green and saw another car come through the intersection and one of the children was struck.
City police responded to the accident and found the boy lying on Connellsville Street. The accident is under investigation and no charges have been filed. In addition to city police, a state police reconstrucitonalist and the research and identification team were called to the scene.
