Theft reported
State police from Uniontown said James Wilson, 70, of Uniontown lost his wallet and a money order, and a known suspect cashed the money order. The incident, which is under investigation, occurred between March 1 and May 3.

Decorations stolen
Two purple and red crystal ball yard ornaments were reported stolen by Sil Conoline, 82, of Dixon Boulevard between 12:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to state police from Uniontown. Anybody with information about the theft should contact state police at 724-439-7111.

Bike stolen
City police said Charlotte McCann of 71 Wayne St. reported that a 24-inch Red Mountain fury bike made by Roadmaster was stolen Wednesday.

Lawn mower stolen
Jacki Hodge of 78 Carlisle St. told city police that her red and black Murray push mower was stolen from her yard Wednesday.

Purse, checks recovered
City police said a Devan Street resident discovered a purse with a checkbook, cell phone, word speller, calculator and credit cards in her yard Wednesday evening. The purse was reported stolen that morning from a nearby home at 25 Apple St.
The purse also contained $800 in cash, eyeglasses, a drivers license, social security card, which were not recovered. The incident remains under investigation.

Injury accident
City police said Meagan M. Coneybeer, 17, of Lincoln Street, Uniontown, and Michael A. Jones, 19, of Sterling Street, were involved in a two-car accident Wedneday morning on East Main Street. Coneybeer was transported to Uniontown Hospital.

Burglary probed
Betty Rafail of Smithfield told state police that someone broke into her Lover’s Leap Road home and tried unsuccessfully to open a safe between 3:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Business robbed
D & M Contracting, Inc., of New Alexandria told state police that someone broke into an office trailer parked along Route 119 and stole about $1000 of equipment and caused about $160 damage to the trailer between 6:30 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Assault reported
State police said a juvenile allegedly stole money from Lily Peck of Lemont Furnace and when confronted also punched Edward Peck of Lemont Furnace at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday.

Harassment probed
Jessica Banko and Heather Kilo told state police that they were verbally and physically harassed by a man and woman, respectively, at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday.
Greensburg
Memorial planned
State police at Greensburg announced a memorial service honoring Westmoreland County officers killed in the line of duty at 12 p.m. Saturday in Saint Clair Park Amphitheater in Greensburg. State Attorney General Mike Fisher will be the featured speaker, and the service is sponsored by Westmoreland County law enforcement officers.

Drug charges
Police filed charges of possession of drugs, possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia against Jeremy Showman, 19, of 230 E. South St., after he was allegedly found with 18.8 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during the execution of a search warrant at his residence on March 28.
Showman was arraigned before District Justice Robert Breakiron and lodged in Fayette County Prison after failing to post a $10,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing in the matter will be scheduled at a later date.

Masontown Borough Police Chief Richard A. Barron issued the following activity report for April in which officers responded to 153 calls with a break down being: 16 traffic citations, two child custody disputes, 10 escorts, two recovered property, four traffic/parking complaints, 17 disturbances, seven juvenile complaints, 14 domestic calls, 10 criminal mischief, six accidents, two motorist assists, five animal complaints, two thefts, eight harassment, two hang up calls to 911, one missing person, one retail theft, nine alarms, one driving under the influence, 13 assist other agencies, one unauthorized use of vehicle, one counterfeit currency, three harassment by communication, one neighbor dispute, one drug overdose, two public drunkenness, three burglaries, one abandoned vehicle, one protection from abuse violation, 22 miscellaneous complaints. During that time officers made the following criminal arrests: two disturbance, two juvenile complaints, three harassment, one public drunkenness, one burglary, one PFA violation.

Child seat event
State police at Belle Vernon announced that in compliance with the National “Buckle-Up America Week” officers will be conducting a child passenger safety seat checkup event May 20 and 22. The event will be held at the Belle Vernon barracks at 560 Circle Drive from 4 to 9 p.m. Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their child passenger seat to have it inspected. Proper installation instructions will be provided.

Man detained
State police said that Radio Shack employees at the Uniontown Mall detained a 25 year-old Uniontown man trying to leave the store without paying for a RCA Direct TV System at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.
