Youth concert, rally planned
The youth group of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church will host a youth concert and rally on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the PVPC’s Pavilion. Youths in grades six through 12 from around District III (Fayette County) of Redstone Presbytery will attend to hear the music and message of the Christian rock band 3 Thirty 3.
“This is a first for your youth group, hosting a concert of this size with a professional rock group,’ said the Rev. Keith Conover, pastor.
“I know our Presbytery district held a youth concert some years ago with a different music group, but I’m unaware of any of our congregations trying it and with a well-known group like 3 Thirty 3. We’ve received some support with this from New Salem and Trinity (Uniontown) Presbyterian Churches as well as from the District III Committee, and that has been a great help to us.’
3 Thirty 3, formerly known as Image, is a contemporary Christian group that has been making music together since 1996.
They come from various musical backgrounds, giving them the ability to perform several styles of music, including praise and worship, contemporary, Southern gospel, blues and rock.
They have played at Son Spot Ministries, the Annual Jesus at the Beach Festival and convention center in Ocean City, Md.
They have also performed at various churches in the Pittsburgh area as well as charities, coffeehouses and local events. Under its former name, Image, the band was voted Best Christian Band in Pittsburgh 1999.
The members are J.D. Davenport, Scott Walls, Greg Quarrick and John DiNunno.
As Davenport would say, “We’re just a bunch of nobodys, telling everybody about somebody who can save anybody and his name is Jesus.’
Admission is $2, which includes music and refreshments.
