Frazier approves hall of fame
Through the efforts of the Frazier High School Improvement Team, the Frazier School Board recently approved a charter for the creation of the “Frazier School District Hall of Fame.” The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize those alumni of the Frazier School District who have distinguished themselves through outstanding achievements in their professional career and/or through outstanding contributions to society.
Bernard G. Kubitza, principal of Frazier High School and a member of the School Improvement Team, commented, “By honoring these former students, the Hall of Fame will provide current and future students with positive examples of what can be achieved by students from the Frazier School District.”
The Frazier Hall of Fame Committee will have the sole responsibility and sole authority for implementing the provisions of the charter of the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Committee will consist of three student members, three faculty members, three administration members and three alumni members.
In order to be considered for nomination and selection into the Hall of Fame, a candidate must meet the following criteria:
The candidate must be an alumnus of the Frazier School District. A period of 12 years must have elapsed since the candidate’s graduation. The candidate must have distinguished himself or herself through outstanding achievements in his or her professional career or through outstanding contributions to his or her community or to society.
Under the Hall of Fame’s charter, outstanding achievements in a professional career are characterized by accomplishments that make the candidate clearly stand out among his or her colleagues. Outstanding contributions to the community or to society are those acts that have led to major improvements in the quality of life in the candidate’s community or in society.
Nominations for the Hall of Fame will be accepted from any Frazier alumni or student. Nominations must be submitted on official forms that are provided by the Hall of Fame Committee.
Nomination forms can be obtained at the school district’s business office, at the district’s schools, and at the Frazier Public Library. Nominations will be accepted through June 30.
Nominations will be reviewed by the Hall of Fame Committee during the month of July. This review will include contact with each nominee to verify the information contained on his or her nomination form and to determine his or her interest in the Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame Committee will elect inductees into the Hall of Fame on or before Aug. 10. No more than six inductees will be elected in the first year and no more than three inductees will be elected in each subsequent year. Election will be by secret ballot and will require a two-thirds vote for the membership of the committee. First time nominees who are not elected into the Hall of Fame shall automatically be renominated and reconsidered for a period of five years.
The induction ceremony for the Hall of Fame will be held in conjunction with Frazier High School’s annual homecoming weekend. During the ceremony, the school district will present each inductee with a plaque that commemorates his or her election into the Hall of Fame.
The school district will also hang a framed portrait of the inductee in the Hall of Fame at Frazier High School.
