Picnic scheduled Comas Club Picnic will be held at Miedel’s Restaurant, 1701 Buttermore Blvd., Connellsville, on Thursday, May 16, at 6 p.m.

Meeting announced

A special meeting will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the California Borough Building to discuss the possible formation of the California Optimist Club. Mayor Gerald Gardner said the meeting would address ways to help young people. He said the meeting is open to everyone and they need 25 people to organize the club. Wood dropoff set

Uniontown residents can bring burnable wood to the city’s sewage treatment plant this week from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Next week, resident can bring metal items to the plant from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information call 724-430-2930.

Benefit game planned

The Uniontown Firemen’s Ambulance Corps’ (UFAC) softball team will play the Life Flights’ softball team in a benefit game Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bailey Park in Uniontown. All proceeds raised will go the Emergency Medical Service Memorial. Weather permitting, a Life Flight helicopter will land near the field on Dunbar Street during the game. The concession stand at Bailey Park will be open. Getting ready for the game are (from left) Tim Ritenour and Tom Fullem, both paramedics with the UFAC.

Healing Mass slated

St. Mary Church, Export, will offer a Mass with Prayers and Blessing for Healing on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Rev. William J. Kiel will be the celebrant. The service is open to all faiths.
