Annabel Mullen Black
Annabel R. Mullen Black, 93, of Uniontown, Pa., and formerly of Vesta 6, Washington County, Pa., where she previously lived for 50 years, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2002, in the Uniontown Hospital.
She was born June 26, 1908, in New Salem, Pa., daughter of Patrick Mullen and Anna Cummings Mullen.
Annabel was an outstanding duplicate bridge player and participated in bridge tournaments in many states.
On September 23, 1924, she married Howard A. Black. Mr. and Mrs. Black celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in September 1999.
Howard passed away December 6, 1999.
Also deceased are their son, Howard “Hal” A. Black Jr., her sisters, Violet Mullen Hackney and Elizabeth Jean Mullen Bogue, and her parents.
Surviving are two daughters: Patricia R. Black Johnson of Uniontown, Pa., and Janet E. Black Anast of New York City, New York; one granddaughter, Robin D. Johnson-Zimberg of Uniontown, Pa.; one grandson, Ralph R. Johnson Jr. of Allen Park, Michigan; great grandsons: Daniel A. Johnson-Zimberg of Uniontown, Pa., and Nathan R. Johnson of Dearborn, Michigan; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She is also survived by a special brother-in-law, Donald J. Bogue, of Chicago, Illinois.
Friends will be received in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Route 40, Beallsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 20, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Thomas F. St. Clair officiating.
Private interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
