Marty Fagler threw a one-hitter as Bud Murphy’s blanked Fayette City 3-0. Fagler went six innings and hurled 10 strikeouts and Richie Means came on in relief in the seventh inning to seal the deal.

In the seventh inning after a walk and an error, Fayette City’s Ben Cipely represented the tying run at the plate. He grounded out to short to end the game.

Bud Murphy’s Shawn Lucy had the games’ only extra base hit with a double, single and RBI. Greg Beucher and Brian Savkovich also had RBI singles.

Losing pitcher Bill Calcaniga went four innings and Ryan Russell pitched the last two. They gave up five walks and three strikeouts combined.

Bud Murphy’s will play Perryopolis in a make up game today at Breakneck.

Masontown 6, Mill Run 3 – Masontown extended their record to 3-0 with a win over Mill Run.

Winning pitcher Jim Kubina picked up his first win with six strikeouts, three walks and three earned runs. Jim Cole came on in relief and threw two scoreless innings to get the save. Cole also had two singles. Joel Yednock added two singles and an RBI.

For Mill Run, Jeremy Miller had two singles and Mike Doppelhauer had two singles.

Masontown will play Brownsville at home next Wednesday.

Carmichaels 9, Charleroi 1 – Carmichaels stormed out to an early 8-0 lead after the first three innings and didn’t look back as they cruised to an easy win over Charleroi.

Carmichaels struck quickly in the first inning with a two-run double by Eric Holt. Earlier in the week against Belle Vernon, Holt won the game 5-1 with a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Winning pitcher Ryan Shetterly pitched six innings, threw four strikeouts and allowed only three hits. Scott Swinchock finished the game giving up one hit and Charleroi’s only run.

Carmichaels continued to pour it on in the third inning when Tom Ricco, Scott Kraynak and Ron Nopwasky singled after two walks.

Jeff Muncie was the losing pitcher giving up eight runs, seven of which were earned, in only two and one-third innings.

Carmichaels (2-0) will play Sunday Anthony Crane at 5 p.m. and Charleroi remains winless at 0-3.
