Mary F. Crosby
Mary Frances Crosby of Mount Lebanon, Pa., formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Country Meadows Nursing Home at the age of 91. She was born Jan. 19, 1911, the daughter of the late Thomas and Maude Alice Tormay Doorley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Crosby; three brothers, John (Jack), William T., and Richard Doorley; and an infant brother, Edmund and an infant sister, Monica.
She was a member of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church of Mount Lebanon.
Known affectionately as “Frankie”, and she became the Matriarch, oldest of 12 brothers and sisters, while devoting the love and energy to raise four children of her own. Always ready to help quietly, she did not seek to be the center of attention, yet she had a presence about her that resulted in that happening.
Surviving are four children, Dr. Thomas Crosby and wife, Kerry of Morgantown, W.Va., Roger Crosby of Edgewater, N.J., and twins, Michael Crosby and Ann Lindner and husband, Ed, both of Mount Lebanon, Pa.; four grandchildren, Katherine Crosby Chafin, Ethan Crosby, Erin Ann and Crosby Lindner; one great-grandchild, Eric Vincent Chafin; two brothers, Lawrence Doorley of Cape Coral,Fla., and Paul Doorley and wife, Jan of Pittsburgh; and four sisters, Jill Humphrey of Clarksville, Ind., Peggy Capozzoli and husband, Michael of Bridgeville, Pa., Polly Storey and husband, Walter of Uniontown, and Ava Case of Winter Haven, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, with the Rev. Fr. William J. Kiel officiating. The HAKY FUNERAL HOMES, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 139 West Fayette St., Uniontown, are caring for the arrangements. In Mary’s memory, memorial donations may be made to the Mt.
