Oklahoma man rejects offer, seeks court date

By Jennifer Harr 2 min read

An Oklahoma man accused of molesting a 20-year-old woman between 1993 and 1999 rejected five to 10 years in prison for rape and other charges levied against him. Charles A. Fuller on Thursday said that he wanted to take his case to trial in Fayette County Court.

Fuller, 35, of Midwest City, Okla., is charged with two counts of rape, three counts each of aggravated indecent assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and one count each of statutory sexual assault and corruption of a minor.

He allegedly assaulted a girl between 1993 and 1999, while she was between 12 and 17. Court records indicate that the alleged abuse stopped around the time the girl graduated from high school. State police learned of the alleged assaults when the girl reported them last Oct. 7. On Dec. 18, police issued a warrant for Fuller’s arrest and he was picked up in Oklahoma in early January.

In an unrelated case, Fredrick A. Sherwood, 26, has until June 3 to decide if he wants to accept two and a half to five years in prison or proceed to trial for allegedly stabbing Alisha Basinger.

Sherwood, through his attorney, Public Defender Jeffery Whiteko, asked to delay his decision on the offer.

In addition to allegedly stabbing Basinger, Connellsville police allege Sherwood also tried to stab Stephanie Ritenour during an Oct. 25, 2001, altercation at a North Eighth Street home.

He was charged with two counts each attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

The attempted homicide charges were subsequently withdrawn at the preliminary hearing.
