DUI

Sean Michael McDaniel, 20, of Rices Landing was taken into custody by state police after he was observed traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 88 at approximately 2:29 a.m. Friday. Police said when officers attempted to stop McDaniel, he attempted to flee.

Police said that speeds reached 70 mph in a marked 25 mph speed zone and that McDaniel failed to stop at eight posted stop signs. McDaniel was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content of 0.34 percent, police said.

Information sought

State police at Uniontown are looking for information regarding an incident that occurred on the biking/hiking trail behind Melcroft on Saturday.

According to police, Michele A. Burkholder, 25, of White was riding a bicycle between two unknown men at 5:30 p.m. when they began to push her, causing her to crash her bicycle and suffer a minor injury. Burkholder told police that a third man approached her and said that the action was a warning, then threatened her with additional physical harm before fleeing the scene with the other two men.

The two bicyclists were described as a 17-year-old male, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds, with short brown hair, wearing glasses, a blue T-shirt and black shorts, riding a dark blue or black bike with red trim.

The second cyclist is described as a 17-year-old male also standing approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds with medium length brown hair, riding a bike of unknown description.

The third suspect was described as a 20-year-old man, standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches, weighing about 200 pounds, with short blond hair wearing a gray shirt and black shorts.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspects is asked to call trooper Pflug at 724-439-7111.

Propulsion of missiles

Andrew Lucostic of New Salem told state police that he was headed north on Route 166 when three juveniles threw rocks that struck his 2000 Ford truck at 8:30 p.m. May 22. Damage is estimated at $150.

Two charged

Garnet Clark and Edward Swauger, both of Dunbar, were charged with simple assault and harassment following a domestic incident in Hodnick’s Mobile Home Park between 6:15 and 6:50 p.m. Friday.

Injuries reported

State police said minor injuries were reported when vehicles operated by Jacqueline Sherbondy of Mount Pleasant and Thomas Miller of Mill Run collided at the intersection of White Road and Buckannon Road at 7:36 p.m. Sunday. Sherbondy and passenger Richard Shultz of Connellsville suffered minor injuries. Miller was transported to Frick Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Simple assault

State police responded to an incident in which a 17-year-old boy allegedly tackled and began hitting and kicking a 15-year-old boy at the corner of May Street and Sheldon Avenue at 2:30 p.m. May 22.

Simple assault

State police reported that the investigation is continuing into an incident in which a 12-year-old boy was struck several times by a 17-year-old in a residence in Acme at 8:45 p.m. Sunday. The 12-year-old was treated at Frick Hospital for injuries to his head arms and leg.

Vehicles spray-painted

Darlene Evans, 49, of Uniontown told state police that between 3:30 and 8 a.m. Sunday her 1990 Pontiac Grand Am and her truck parked at the intersection of Whyel and Bailey avenues were spray-painted.

Four charged

Following an altercation at the Route 40 Sheets, state police said that a Masontown juvenile, Vicky Tringes of Perryopolis, Michael Konopka of Perryopolis and Tobias Mitchell of Brownsville were charged with harassment, with Mitchell being additionally charged with two counts of criminal mischief.

State police said that Vincent Kish IV of Point Marion was transported to Mercy Hospital after he left Route 119 north of Smithfield and hit a utility pole at 1:41 a.m. Friday.

Hit-and-run probed

An unknown driver in a gray 1989 Chevrolet Corsica sedan with Pennsylvania registration DYM5096 lost control on the Smithfield-Masontown Road at Guthrie Road and rolled the vehicle at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday. Police said the driver fled the scene on foot.

State police said a 17-year-old girl from Confluence was charged with criminal mischief for allegedly taking a key and scratching the paint of a vehicle owned by Anthony Lee Little, 19, of Gibbon Glade at noon Thursday while it was parked in the employee lot at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.

Public drunkenness

Dan Hall, 29, of Lemont Furnace was discovered by police intoxicated on a porch along Morgan Station Road at 4:49 a.m. Sunday.

Hit-and-run investigated

Richard Keller of Carmichaels told state police at Belle Vernon that he was driving east on Interstate 70 at 9:40 p.m. Thursday when he was struck from behind. Police said that the unknown driver was stopped on Route 31 by state police at Greensburg and that charges will be filed.

Accident

State police said that charges are pending against a 17-year-old Scottdale boy after the vehicle he was driving left Prittstown Road, struck a metal rail then crossed a parking area and hit the Mount Carmel Christian School at 7:20 p.m. Friday. Police said the boy suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Justin P. Knight, 16, of Dawson suffered minor injuries after losing control on a legislative route, striking a utility pole at 3 p.m. Saturday said police. Knight was taken to Mon Valley Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Charles Kennedy, 43, of Happy Valley Road told state police that his mailbox was smashed between 2 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Lock broken

Pepsi Bottling Group of Morgantown, W.Va., told state police that a lock was broken on the vending machine located at the True Value Hardware on Route 88 at 7:45 a.m. Thursday. Nothing was reported as stolen.

Hit-and-run probed

Thomas Petropoulos of Jefferson told state police that between 9 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday an unknown driver traveling north on Pyle Road struck several of his fence posts then left.

Man charged

Randy Lee Hixon, 32, of Greensboro was charged with simple assault and lodged in the Greene County Jail on $1,000 bond for allegedly biting Tonia Marie Hixon, 27, of Greensboro on the neck at 9:30 p.m. Friday, said police.

Lisa Adams and Jessica Young told state police that their vehicles were entered and Adams’ purse and 45 music CDs of Young’s were taken between midnight and 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Fugitive

State police said that Roy Jack Pierce, 46, an inmate in SCI Waynesburg was charged Thursday as a fugitive from justice as an outstanding warrant exists from New York. The state of New York has stated the intention of extraditing Pierce following his release from SCI Waynesburg.

Larry Shifflett, 42, of Waynesburg was charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly pounded on his neighbors’ doors and yelled at them at 3:04 a.m. Friday.

Ronald Brumley of Greensboro told state police that his 1986 Kawasaki quad was taken from his Route 88 home at 3:43 p.m. Thursday.

Jerry Stills of Kissimee, Fla., told state police that a rock was thrown through the rear window of his vehicle while parked at a tavern between midnight and 2 a.m. Sunday.

William Alfred Throckmorton, 78, of Waynesburg told state police that between May 15 and 22 his Lawn Boy self-propelled mower was taken from his home.

Robert Strope, 34, of Waynesburg told state police that his Castille Ridge Road home was forcibly entered and several rifles were removed between 6 and 10 p.m. Saturday.

A 14-year-old boy was cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing eggs at the front of a home owned Larry William Shifflett, 42, of Waynesburg at 12:55 a.m. Monday.

ATV taken

Edward E. Maurin, 54, of Carmichaels told state police that an ATV was removed from his Spingtown Road home at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Three-vehicle accident

State police said no injuries were reported when vehicles operated by Emily Zaffina, 18, of Scottdale, Ralph McConnaughey, 29, of Leola and Dorise Hocevar, 53, of Ashland, Ky., collided on Route 30 east of Valley Kitchen Road at 12:40 p.m. Sunday.

Charles Springer, 56, of Hunker was charged with disorderly conduct by state police after he allegedly used a piece of wood to strike a motorcycle owned by James Perkey, 18, of Hunker at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

State police said no one was injured when Matthew David Dileo, 19, of Uniontown struck a parked vehicle owned by Raven Mammoth on Route 982 at 12:45 a.m. Friday.

Tools stolen

Vaughn Furlong of Hunker told state police that between May 17 and 23 his shed was entered and a gas-powered weed trimmer and a Black and Decker electric edge trimmer were taken.

State police said no injuries were reported when vehicles operated by Barry Geary, 52, of Indian Head and John Hutchko, 49, of Monongahela collided on Route 381 at 10:25 a.m. Friday.

East Huntingdon Twp.

Charges pending

State police said a 40-year-old man from Champion was taken into custody at 10:10 p.m. from the intersection of Route 31 and Fire Department Road for his alleged role in a hit-and-run accident involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 earlier that night.

Police said after the hit-and-run accident on the interstate, the Champion man allegedly ran a tow truck driver off the road. The tow truck driver caught up with the accused and kept him detained at the railroad crossing until police arrived.

State police said no one was injured when vehicles operated by Eugene Price of Mount Pleasant and Robert Griger of Indian Head collided on Route 31 on Friday.

Timothy Duncan of West Finley was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol after he had a 0.13 percent blood-alcohol content following an accident at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Man charged

State police said that Brian Keith Cleaver, 31, of Dilliner was charged with simple assault after he allegedly hit April Marie Cuppett, 18, of Dilliner during a domestic dispute at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Cleaver was lodged in the Greene County Jail on $7,500 bond.

Accident

State police said no one was injured when vehicles operated by Steve Bertan, 87, of Carmichaels and Melissa S. Bassinger, 22, of Jefferson collided at the intersection of Route 188 and Route 88 at 3 p.m. Friday.

Vehicle scratched

Jeanine Silbaugh, 42, of Markleysburg told state police that between 10 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday the convertible top on her car was cut and a tire slashed while parked along Route 40.

Charges pending

Charges are pending against a 36-year-old Everson man for allegedly grabbing Jeffrey Blystone, 35, of Everson by the throat during an altercation on Brown Street at 3:20 p.m. Monday.

James Christopher Peters, 42, of Star Junction was cited by state police for appearing along Memorial Boulevard intoxicated at 2 a.m. Monday.

Harassment

State police said charges were fled against a known juvenile from Monessen for allegedly harassing Tina Gerda of Belle Vernon at 2:10 a.m. Friday in Perry Township.

Accident

State police said no driver was located on the scene of a one-vehicle accident at the ramp leading from Route 40 to Route 43 at 2:43 a.m. Friday. The 1994 Pontiac sedan left the ramp, struck a road sign, continued for 120 feet into a tree and some shrubs and then traveled another 144 feet before coming to rest.

Structure fire

Fayette County 911 officials reported that at 11:08 p.m. Friday firefighters from Grindstone, Smock, South Brownsville and Fayette City along with Fayette EMS, Redstone Township police and state police at Uniontown responded to a structure fire on Fourth Street. No injuries were reported.

Dunbar Twp.

Fire reported

Fayette County Emergency officials said a trailer fire was called in on Oak Street at 9:39 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters from Dunbar, Monarch and Morrell were supported by Fayette EMS at the scene in Greenhill Trailer Park. No injuries were reported.

Uniontown

Structure fire

At 7:06 p.m. Sunday Fayette County 911 received a call on a structure fire on Coolspring Street. Firefighters from Uniontown, South Union Township, North Union Township were supported at the scene by Fayette EMS and state police at Uniontown. No injuries were reported.

Connellsville

Structure fire

At 2:40 p.m. a structure fire on East Gibson Avenue was called in to Fayette County 911. Connellsville police and Fayette EMS supported Connellsville Fire Department at the scene. No injuries were reported.
