Library programs scheduled for summer
Libraries across Fayette County this summer will be the place for children and their families to be stars and shine brightly through the libraries summer reading programs: “Spotlight On Reading – Be A Star @ Your Library.” While reading for pleasure, children are invited to attend storytimes, activities, crafts, and special programs at libraries across Fayette County.
Libraries in Brownfield, Brownsville, Carnegie of Connellsville, German-Masontown, Smithfield and Uniontown will use this year’s statewide summer reading program, “Spotlight On Reading – Be A Star @ Your Library.”
This year’s theme celebrates the art of creation and the creation of art. Many of the libraries will be having special programs, such as puppet shows, Mother Goose program, a beach party bingo, a scholastic book fair, and a picnic.
Other libraries in Fayette County have other themes for their summer reading programs. At the Frazier School Community Library in Perryopolis, the theme is “Have a Tom Sawyer Summer.” Participants will read, sketch, paint, create costumes, and perform scenes from the book.
At the Point Marion Public Library, the summer reading program is titled, “Your Library – The Greatest Show In Town.” A circus theme will influence the decorations, arts, crafts and games of the program.
The Dunbar Community Library will have a summer reading program called “The Summer Reading Incentive Program.”
At the Republic Community Library, the summer reading program will involve programs dealing with juggling, comedy, magic and a sing-a-long.
