Theresa Louise Gentilcore Quarzo
Theresa Louise Gentilcore Quarzo, 87, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at 1:10 p.m. in St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Widely known and loved as the operator of Gentilcore’s Confectionary on Gallatin Avenue, Theresa brightened the day of the many customers to whom “the store” was a second home.
She was born September 25, 1914, the daughter of the late Anna and Joseph Gentilcore Sr.
She was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, St. Therese Altar Society, Maria Montessori Lodge No. 1711, and Order Sons of Italy in America.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Quarzo on June 12, 1990, one sister, Rose Gentilcore Burgan, one brother, Peter Gentilcore, and two nieces, Patricia Ann Gentilcore and Terry Shilling.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann Quarzo of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Joseph Gentilcore Jr.; nieces and nephews: Joseph Gentilcore III and Ernest Quarzo both of Uniontown Pennsylvania, Leo Quarzo, Diane Lee Shumar and Richard Quarzo of Brownsville, Pennsylvania, Timothy Madorma and Jimmy Madorma of Virginia, Lou Ann Williams of Germany, and Lori Sacks of California, Pa.
Theresa sponsored two children in Guatemala through the Childreach Plan of Warwick, Rhode Island.
Her unselfish generosity and dedication to her family and friends will long be remembered by all!
Friends will be received in the J. HARRY JOHNSTON FUNERAL HOME, 65 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 29, until 10 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10:30 a.m. in St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Mill Street, Uniontown.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown.
