Walter R. Sanner, 65, a resident since 1992 of Carmichaels, Pa., and formerly of Waynesburg, Pa., who was born in Saltlick Township, Fayette County, Pa., graduated in 1954 from the former Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels, served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and afterward in the United States Army Reserves, and retired in 1995 as Crew Leader from Equitable Gas Company in Waynesburg, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at 1 p.m. in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. He is survived by his mother, Vera Mae Baronie Sanner of Carmichaels, Pa.; his wife, Shirley J. Higgins Sanner, whom he married December 1, 1957; son, Jett Lee Sanner of Taylorstown, Washington County, Pa.; daughter, Mitzi J. Tennant of Nemacolin, Pa.; grandchildren: Christopher J. Sanner, Danielle M. Sanner, Tiffany R. Mattei, Justin A. Mattei, Devin R. Tennant; brother, Jerry Allen Sanner of Dayton, Ohio; sisters: Dorothy L. Sanner Burke of Port Tobacco, Maryland, and Eileen F. Sanner Blair of Carmichaels, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 29, until 11 a.m.
