Carmichaels plans graduation
On Friday 104 Carmichaels Area School District seniors will graduate high school. The ceremony will begin at 7:15 p.m., while the senior high chorus will perform two songs prior to the processional. The event will take place in the high school gymnasium.
Class valedictorian, Linette Rose Zabrosky, and salutatorian, Anne Elizabeth Bobich, will address their fellow seniors. Senior class president, Elaine Gail Wood, will speak and call roll.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be David A. Bocchini, a 1970 Carmichaels alumnus with a 25-year career history of domestic and international experience in Fortune 500 manufacturing, electronics, chemical processing, engineering and construction industries, environmental control, and Big 6 public accounting environments.In 1982, Bocchini became a corporate controller for Kellogg-Rust International Inc. in Houston, Texas. He then moved on to California and the Apex Corporation where he was vice president and chief financial officer from 1983 until 1986.
From 1986 to 1990, Bocchini served as chief financial officer and managing director at Fisher Scientific Group Inc., La Jolla, Calif., an international manufacturer/distributor of laboratory and hospital instrumentation and supplies.
In 1991, Bocchini returned to Pennsylvania as principal with Pershing Group Inc. in Pittsburgh, a business advisory and management advisory firm. He remained there until 1993 when he became vice president, chief financial officer in human resources and information systems for the Cerdec Corp. in Washington until 1999
In 2000, he became executive vice president and chief financial officer as well as general manager of Cerdec North America Operations with dmc2, Degussa Metals Catalysts Cerdec Corp., an international manufacturer of automobile catalysts, high performance pigments and precious metal products.
Currently living in Upper St. Clair, he retired from Degussa Metals in 2002.
Bocchini is married to the former Janet Masuga. They are the parents of two sons, Mark and John.
To aid three seniors in their post-secondary school finances, two scholarships will be granted to qualified individuals.
The Paul and Dolores Jazwa Lavins Scholarship will be awarded to two graduating seniors while the Holupa-Marinoff Gift Fund will also help pay for one student’s education.
