John H. Rizer

John H. Rizer, 71, of Point Marion, Pa., died Monday, May 27, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. Born August 11, 1930, in Leckrone, Pa., he was a son of Howard Eugene Rizer and Mary Ann Baer Rizer.

John was a Coal Miner retired from United States Steel’s Cumberland Mine.

He was a member of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Morgantown, United Mine Workers of America, and Golden Pointers Senior Citizens in Point Marion where he was active on the Dartball team.

Preceding him in death were a son in infancy, John H. Rizer Jr., a brother, Frank Rizer, a sister, Rosemary White, and his parents.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Luella Jeffries Rizer, whom he married January 16, 1951; five children: Peggy May Skidmore, Norma Lou Cunningham, and James Lester Rizer all of Point Marion, Gregory Howard Rizer of Warren, Ohio, and Helen Louise Konchesky of Cheat Lake, West Virginia; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and brothers: Howard Rizer of Uniontown, Pa., and Raymond Rizer of New Geneva, Pa.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, May 31, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Elder Frank Dippel officiating assisted by Dave Joyce and Larry Cottrill.

Interment follows in Mount Union Cemetery, Morgantown, West Virginia.
