Masontown edges Bud Murphy’s in County League action Adam Dukate and Marty Fagler were involved in a pitcher’s duel Thursday, but Dukate’s Masontown squad mustered enough offense to win a 3-1 Fayette County Baseball League decision over visiting Bud Murphy’s.

Bud Murphy’s (5-1) opened the scoring when Brian Sankovich, who had three of his team’s five singles, drove home the visitors’ only tally.

Brad Baker’s one-out, two-run single gave Masontown (4-1) the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Baker stole second and later scored on Scott Van Sickle’s single.

Dukate (2-0) struck out two and walked three in the win. Marty Fagler struck out eight, walked three and allowed six singles in the loss.

Connellsville 9, Anthony Crane 7 – Connellsville sent 12 men to the plate in the top of the first, scoring on nine runs in the inning to carry on to a Fayette County Baseball League victory.

Anthony Griffith, J.W. Eddy and Brian Boyle all had two RBIs in the inning.

Anthony Crane chipped back with single runs in the first, second, fourth, sixth and seventh innings plus two runs in the third.

Boyle later saved the day for Connellsville, coming in the game with the bases loaded in the seventh inning for his first save of the season.

Boyle and Griffith led Connellsville (3-2-1) with two hits each. John Harvey had a double and two singles for Anthony Crane while Ken Musko had a double and single.

Bob Keslar singled twice for Anthony Crane.

Brownsville 8, Perry 1 – Kevin Dvorchak’s three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning was all the offense the visitors needed, then he came on for his first save of the season for a Fayette County Baseball League victory.

Craig Rechichar and Jason Cramer both had two-run singles in the top of the seventh to cap Brownsville’s scoring.

Jim Cales drove home Brownsville’s other run. Dvorchak and Cales had two hits apiece.

Bob Oldham won his first game of the season, striking out five and walking one in five innings.

Mike Matras had a double and single for Perry while Dustin Schwabb had two singles and drove home Perry’s only run.

Brownsville improves to 3-1. Perry drops to 0-5.

American Legion

Farmington 10, Waynesburg 5 – Jason Hamborsky went 4-for-5 and scored two runs for Farmington while Gary King had a pair of triples, a double, scored three runs and drove home three RBIs to lead Farmington to a Fayette American Legion Baseball League victory.

Scott Cree went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Waynesburg.

Farmington goes to 1-1 and will host California tonight. Waynesburg falls to 0-2.
