Virginia Sloughfy
Virginia Abraham Sloughfy, 90, a longtime guest of Cherry Tree Nursing Home and formerly of Smithfield, Pa., died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Cherry Tree. She was born May 26, 1912, in Smithfield, Pa., the daughter of the now late Charles Sloughfy and Elizabeth O’Donnovan of Smithfield, Pa.
She was a very active member of the Baptist Churches in Drexel, Pa., Germantown, Pa., and Philadelphia, Pa.
In addition to being a graduate of Point Marion High School, she was also a graduate of Penn Hospital Nursing School, a part of Jefferson Medical Center of Philadelphia in 1933. Mrs. Sloughfy was also an avid gardener.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Jr., and Frances Sloughfy of Fleetwood, Pa; two grandchildren, Charles III of Tinton Falls, N.J., Mrs. Todd (Elizabeth) Huhn of Fleetwood, Pa.; and three great grandchildren, Alicia Sloughfy; Brooke Emily Huhn; and Ashley Elizabeth Huhn.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, C. Arthur Sloughfy in 1935, and was married to him until his passing on Feb. 23, 1998; and two brothers, Peter and Jones Abraham.
Services and interment will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at the Armaugh Cemetery Chapel in Armaugh, Pa. Services are under the direction of the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME OF SMITHFIELD, PA.
