Charles M. Malik
Charles M. “Chai” Malik, 94, of Sun City Center, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at Sun Terrace Nursing Home. He was born April 11, 1908, at Hutchinson, Pa., son of the late Frank and Anna Mahokey Malik. He was also predeceased by a brother, Harry “Hula” Malik; sisters, Edith Robinson and Lena Luper; and a son-in-law, Samuel Emiddio.
Charles was a graduate of South Union High School, Class of 1926, and was retired from the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Rotary International, Kiwanis International and President of the Travel Club for many years.
Surviving are his wife, of 71 years, Fern M. Cuppett Malik; a daughter, Patricia Emiddio of Brandon, Fla.; granddaughters, Pamela Avelli of Brooklyn, N.Y., Cynthia McLaren of Brandon, Fla., and Samantha Bianco of Tampa, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Tamara, Janelle and Cassandra; and a great great-grandson, Christian. Also surviving are a brother, Alfred “Chubb” Malik and sister-in-law, Betty Malik of Hopwood; and nieces and nephews. Linda Maher, Honey Lou Gonzales, Sally Ann Smith, George Luper, John Malik, Jane Ann Show and Frank Malik.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church St., Fairchance, Pa., on Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, from noon to 1 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. M.L. Stringfellow officiating. Interment in Addison Cemetery, Addison, Pa.
