Michael Walatezk (Velosky)
Michael Walatezk (Velosky), 81, of Fairbank, Pa., passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, in LaFayette Manor, Uniontown. He was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Filbert, Pa., son of the late John and Kathryn Walatezk (Velosky).
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by the following sisters and brothers, Mary Prohira, Josephine Girardi and Charles, George, John and Peter Velosky.
He was a member of the Saint Thomas Roman Catholic Church of Footedale, a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Pittsburgh, with over 46 years of service, a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman, a member of AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa., American Legion Post No. 753 of New Salem, VFW Post 47 of Uniontown, and the Polish Club.
He is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Bakos of Warren, Mich., and Anna Maleta of Fairbank; and the following nieces and nephews, Carol Osprowski, Frances Burwell, Mary Kathryn Konieizny, Mary Ann Mayers, Joan Kopacko, Patricia Lonchar, Joan Santora, Elizabeth Halahand, Margaret Bowman, Michael Maleta, Walter Ritzannio, Nicholas Ritz, John Velosky, Robert Girardi and Rudolph Velosky Sr., with whom he made his home.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Thomas R.C. Church of Footedale, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. James L. Popochock as celebrant. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. AMVETS Post No. 103 will conduct Military Rites at the graveside. A Parish Wake Service will be held on Monday at 3 p.m., in the funeral home.
