Brownsville man enters guilty pleas

By Jennifer Harr 2 min read

A Brownsville man who reportedly told police that he held up a convenience store because he was “just trying to survive,” pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery Monday in Fayette County Court. Lacy D. Bradley, 22, pleaded guilty to robbing Byers Market on Main Street, and to robbing the BFS Food Store on Morgantown Street. Both Uniontown stores were robbed on March 26, according to court records. In exchange for his guilty pleas, Bradley will serve five to 10 years in prison on both cases, but the time will run concurrently.

In both cases, Bradley admitted to Judge John F. Wagner Jr. that he pulled out a gun, ordered the clerks to the floor and stole money. Between the two stores, police said Bradley took about $224.

Uniontown police Detective Phillip W. Jones arrested Bradley after searching the home of one of his acquaintances and recovering the clothes he wore during the armed robberies.

After Jones arrested him, Bradley confessed to police. He reportedly told Jones that he did not used a loaded gun, and that he was only holding up convenience stores in an effort to survive.

Bradley asked Wagner to schedule his sentencing on the charges as quickly as possible so that he could get out of the county lock-up and into the state prison system.

Wagner set the sentence date for Thursday morning.
