Local man arraigned

Timothy Adams, 42, of 50 Richeyville Road, Richeyville, was arraigned Monday by Uniontown District Justice Mark Blair on charges of theft of leased property and bad checks. The charges were filed by the Southwest Greensburg Police and Adams was freed on $50,000 unsecured bail.

An affidavit alleges that Adams rented an electric man lift, valued at $17,500, from Warehouse Rentals and Supplies in Westmoreland County on Aug. 23 and did not return it. Following company protocol, he left a signed blank check and was supposed to return the machine on Aug. 30.

Instead, he called and said he needed it until Sept. 6. The rental company agreed, but as of Sept. 23 Adams had not returned it. The company then contacted the bank named on the check and discovered the account was closed.

Police said the company eventually recovered the machine on its own.
