Joseph Chrobak Jr., age 79, of East Millsboro, Pa., died Sunday, November 3, 2002, in the Brownsville General Hospital. He was born on May 31, 1923, in Grantown, West Virginia, son of Joseph and Rosie Szaflanski Chrobak.

He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 6330.

He retired from Gateway Mining Company with 30 years of underground mining and lastly as a Riverman at the Tipple.

He is survived by his wife, Illeine Swegel Chrobak; daughter-in-law, Kay Chrobak, Brownsville, Pa.; Grandchildren: Jamie Dawn Chrobak, Brownsville, Pa., Jeff Chrobak and wife Brandee, Brownsville, Pa.; Great Grandson, Matthew Chrobak; Brothers: John Chrobak, Fairmont, West Virginia, and Frank Chrobak, East Millsboro, Pa.; and Sister, Louise Bohna, East Millsboro, Pa.

He was predeceased by a son, Edmond J. Chrobak, brother, Stanley Roebuck, sisters, Josephine Mamot and Nellie Fudala, and his parents.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. James Roman Catholic Church, LaBelle, Pa., with the Rev. Fr. Vincent Gigliotti as celebrant.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
