Peter M. Speggen, 84, of 214 Sterling Ave., Masontown, Pa., died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at 5:15 p.m., in Allegheny General Hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Masontown, Pa., the son of the late Louis and Mary (Mioranza) Speggen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Angelo Speggen and a sister, Ella Speggen.

He was a coal miner for J & L Steel Corporation, Bobtown, Pa., and a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church of Masontown, Pa.

Peter graduated from All Saints High School of Masontown, Pa.

He was in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Yolanda (Tassone) Speggen, whom he married on Oct. 24, 1951; two sons, Gary Speggen of Masontown, Pa., and Dale Speggen of Uniontown, Pa.; three granddaughters, Jennifer Speggen, Laura Speggen and Chelsa Speggen; two grandsons, Dale Speggen Jr., and Matthew Speggen; two brothers, Charles Speggen and wife, Doris of Masontown, Pa., and Joseph Speggen and wife, Janet of Masontown, Pa.; and two sisters, Carolyn Speggen Erhard and husband, Leroy of Masontown, Pa., and Eda Speggen Tiberi of Masontown, Pa.

Friends were received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, Corner of Church and River Aves., Masontown, Pa., on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held today at 9:30 a.m., and will be private. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by Masontown VFW and American Legion Posts. Interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. Donations may be made to All Saints Social Hall, 101 West Church Ave., Masontown, PA 15461, or to a favorite charity.
