Items stolen

State police said a sword and dagger collection, window-mounted air conditioner, portable stereo and money were stolen from David Spiroff’s Second Street residence in the Jarred Mobile Home Park between 10 a.m. Oct. 13 and 8:15 a.m. Oct. 14.

Car catches fire

A car driven by Paul William Craft of Menallen Township caught fire at 3:45 p.m. Thursday when he was driving on Old Route 51, state police said. Nobody was injured.

South Union Twp.

Van hits house

State police said William H. Wyland, 21, of Main Street, Fairchance, lost control of a 1986 GMC van around a bend on Wiggins Lane at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and struck Andre Walters’ house. Police said Wyland, who was using a seat belt, was not injured and was talking on a cell phone at the time of the crash.

PFA violated

Aniello Costabile of Smock was charged with violating a protection from abuse order, issued to Laura Heckman of Perryopolis, at 1 a.m. Friday, state police in Belle Vernon said.

Man injured

State police said Jeffrey Scatena of Fredericktown suffered minor injuries when he lost control of his car Thursday at 4 a.m., hit a hillside along Beallsville Road and rolled over.

Richeyville and Bentleyville fire departments also responded to the mishap.

Woman escapes injury

State police said Margaret B. Basinger of West Crawford Avenue, Connellsville, was not injured Thursday at 7:10 p.m. when her vehicle went out of control and hit a guardrail along Route 201.

Citation filed

A harassment citation was filed against Steve Suchevits, 34, of Uniontown for allegedly pushing Laura Wingrove, 37, of Uniontown during an argument along Clarendon Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Friday, state police said.

City police said Frick Tri-County Federal Credit Union on Pittsburgh Street reported that someone broke the rear window on a repossessed 1992 Ford Explorer sometime Thursday.

City police said the street department was notified Thursday at 5:30 p.m. about some garbage that was dumped in the alley behind Herman Street.

Inmate dies

William Davis, 49, an inmate in the State Correctional Institution at Greene, died of kidney failure Thursday in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. Prison Superintendent William S. Stickman III said Davis was pronounced dead in the hospital at 2:05 p.m. Toxicology tests and an autopsy have been requested. Stickman said Davis was sentenced in Franklin County to six to 20 years in prison on a rape conviction. He has been incarcerated in SCI-Greene since Sept. 20, 1995. His family has been notified.

Report released

Borough Police released the following report for October. Police received 422 calls for service, including, two each of domestic reports and alarm activation; eight towed vehicles; 10 assists of other departments; 21 motorist assists and 33 escorts. Police patrolled 5,550 miles.

Criminal arrests included one each of aggravated assault, burglary, theft, DUI, disorderly conduct, false reports, reckless endangerment, unlawful restraint; three criminal mischief cases and four simple assaults. Police issued 36 summary citations, one each of criminal mischief and harassment, two for underage drinking, three for trespassing and 29 for disorderly conduct.

Police stopped 75 vehicles and reported 35 motor vehicle violations. Police said seven accidents were reported, with two injuries.

Plates stolen

Brett Balaban of 112 Brownsville Road told Brownsville police Nov. 1 that someone removed the license plate, bearing number EBY-5205, from his vehicle.

In an unrelated incident, Michael Yothers of 100 High St. told Brownsville police Nov. 4 that someone removed the plate, bearing number YGX-0928, from his vehicle.

Gun missing

Robert Lenhart of 405 Clover St. told Brownsville police that his Taurus Model 85 .38-caliber revolver was taken from his residence between 5 p.m. Oct. 31 and 1 a.m. Nov. 2.

Carlita Alene Deeds, Kim Deeds and Erica Rebar told city police that a man known to them threatened to shoot them as they were walking along Gallatin Avenue at 9:41 p.m. Friday, said city police.

Donald Brooks of 22 Collins Ave. told city police Friday that his credit card bill had two purchases that he did not authorize.

Noreen Antal of 133 Walnut St. told police at 5:02 p.m. Friday that a woman known to her was riding around her house and causing problems.

In an unrelated incident, Chantel Monique Curry told police at 3:56 p.m. Friday that a man known to her jumped in her car at 44 Lincoln St., argued with her and fled before police arrived. Harassment charges are pending, said police.

Gasoline stolen

Jeff Allen, an employee of the Exxon gas station at 215 W. Main St., said a woman driving a teal colored, four-door Saturn drove off with $14 worth of gasoline without paying for it at 2:38 p.m. Friday. Allen said the vehicle had stickers on the back bumper and a Minnesota registration. He described the driver as a 5-foot 3-inch blonde woman in her 30s.

Guard harassed

Security officer Charles Drew at the Mount Vernon Inn told city police that some unknown juveniles were hiding in the alley and shooting at him with a BB gun at 2:18 a.m. Saturday. Drew said he was not struck.

Window broken

The midnight shift at the Fayette County Prison told city police that a large group of boys and girls were walking up Pennsylvania Street when someone in the group threw a rock, breaking the front window of the floor care building, at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, said police.

Guards harassed

A large group of juveniles in the upper parking lot of Pershing Court threw candy at guards from Stephens Security at 1:56 a.m. Saturday, said city police. One of the security guards was struck in the leg with a small can, but no medical attention was required, said police.

Purse taken

Ashley Lee Theakston told city police that her purse was taken around 1:50 p.m. Friday.

The purse contained $80 cash, a First Federal Credit Union checkbook and check card, a University of Pittsburgh school identification, driver’s license, a Social Security card, MedPlus medical card and a gray and black Cricket cell phone, said police.

Charges are pending, said police.

Linda Romesburg of 55 Clark St. told city police that the light on her shed was broken and two chair cushions were taken from outside her residence at 9 p.m. Friday.

Andre Dennis, 25, of Uniontown was cited for disorderly conduct after police responded to the residence of his acquaintance at 37 Lemon Wood Acres at 1:05 p.m. Friday, said state police.

Darrell Wayne Hall of Uniontown was cited for harassment after arguing with and allegedly punching a girl in the left temple at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, said state police.

James Evans, 30, of Fairchance was charged with criminal trespass after he was seen at Lemon Wood Acres at 6 p.m. Monday, said state police. Evans had received notice against trespass from the Fayette County Housing Authority, said police. The complaint was filed with District Justice Deberah Kula.

Vehicle stolen

A 1992 Ford Mustang LX was stolen from a yard at 28 Hickory Road between 3:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Oct. 24, said state police.

Windows broken

Numerous windows were broken at Berkley Surgical Corp. at 49 Virginia Ave. between Oct. 28 and Monday, said state police.

Cigarettes stolen

Fifty cartons of cigarettes were stolen from Dilliner Convenience Store along Route 88, Dilliner, at 2:23 a.m. Friday, said state police.

Police release report

Township police released the following activity report for October, which showed the following: one report each of attempted breaking and entering, bad checks, car fire, child abuse arrest, child custody complaint, dog bite, DUI arrest, child endangerment arrest, panhandling, poaching, property dispute, runaway juvenile, suicide attempt, unsecured residence and unwanted person.

Police reported two instances each of abandoned vehicles, assault arrests, disorderly conduct arrests, hang-up calls to 911, loud-music complaints, traffic complaints, traffic accidents and unauthorized use of vehicles; three each of alarm activations and disabled vehicles; four complaints of suspicious people; five vehicles towed; six harassment cases (with two arrests); and 11 miscellaneous calls.

Police issued 17 traffic citations and patrolled 1,602 miles. The officers also assisted EMS and state police once each, volunteer fire departments twice and Brownsville police five times.

Jeremy Alan Paull of 128 Mountainview St. told state police that an a number of items were taken from his vehicle between 12:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday.
