Special clinic to be held Saturday for people without health insurance
Community Medical Services along with the Philippine American Medical Society (PAMS) of Southwestern Pennsylvania will host a free specialized health clinic on Saturday. The clinic is for people without health insurance who are in need of medical care and will be held at the Community Medical Services Uniontown office at 140 N. Beeson Ave.
The clinic will operate one Saturday per month with future dates to be announced and will have local, volunteer physicians who specialize in various areas.
For the first clinic on Saturday, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the volunteer physician’s specialty areas are as follows:
– Urology, kidney functions.
– Gynecology, women’s health care.
– Internal medicine, general health.
The clinic was organized in order to serve the large population of Fayette County residents who do not have health insurance.
Fayette County is federally designated a medically underserved area and various portions of the county are designed health professional shortage areas in regards to a lack of physicians who accept Medicare, Medicaid and uninsured patients.
Community Medical Services was established by Fayette County Community Action Agency in 1997 as a comprehensive health facility for all Fayette County residents. Community Medical Services has office locations in Uniontown and Brownsville and will open a third location in Henry Clay Township within the next month.
Community Medical Services accepts most private insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid and officers a sliding fee scale for uninsured and underinsured patients. Community Medical Services also features a dental office, Community Dental Services in Uniontown, which was developed with the same premise.
Community Medical Services is staffed by Mary Hood, its nurse practitioner who is organized the event with local physician Dr. Lydia Noche, Dr. Manie Juneja who serves as the medical director and Dr. Atif Saeed. Juneja specializes in geriatrics and internal medicine while Saeed specializes in internal medicine and infectious diseases.
